My Favorite Meditation App.

Hola! Happy FRIYAY

A couple of months ago... I found THE BEST MEDITATION APP. EVER!

It's called : INSIGHT Timer

Check out the link here: https://insighttimer.com/

And you can download it on your phone for free!

If you're not familiar with the benefits of mediation... click here to read 76 benefits of meditating!

Here are the reasons I LOVE this app.!

1) There are tons of great meditation teachers that have their own guided meditations.

From something like... I found just this now.. "Undo" designed to clear unwanted vibes and energy and to bring a soothing feeling etc. to meditation for sleep, to meditation for releasing anxiety, guided meditation for healing and clarity etc.

The list of categories goes on! And what's great is, click on "meditation" and then click on "popular" and then click on how much time do you have?

0-5 minutes  , 6-10 mins , 11-15 mins. etc. on up to 30 mins or more and the app will show you what meditations are available in that time frame.

I love to go to my gym when it's not busy and sit in the massage chairs and listen to the 5 min. meditations. It's soooooo nice! And I find new "go-to" meditations every time!

2) Click on "Today" and you can see what other people have been meditating to.

If you see a kind of meditation or meditation/visualization that you like, you can save it to your library. Just now.. I found someone meditating on " Breathing technique to beat stress" and I added it to my library.

3) The MAIN reason I love this app.

THE TIMER

Meditation _Timer.jpg

So... I do a breath meditation. Daily. Sometimes it's for 7 or 11 minutes if I have a busy packed day. Sometimes is 15 or 20 mins. on my lunch break. Sometimes on a weekend or if I get up super early, I'll do a full hour.

This what I do and why I love it!

My meditation practice is that I sit quietly and comfortably and follow my breath.

When thoughts come up, as they invariably do... I realize they're there and I just let them go. Or, I visualize a river or a stream and I watch my thoughts flowing away down the water.

And then I go back to my breath. And sometimes... I repeat to myself,  " breathing in...breathing out. breathing in...breathing out."

Now, how to set the timer.

Click on "Timer".

Then pick the amount of time you want.

Let's say... 7 mins. That's doable.

Then I add " Interval bells" repeating once a minute. You can edit this for your preferences but for me, it usually takes about a min. for my mind to start wandering and when I hear those bells... I remember to let go of my thoughts and go back to the breath!

And by the way... You can pick what type of bell sound you want ( brilliant) I'm using "Sakya" - Bell1.

Then I add " Ambient sound" if any.

You could choose not to add any sound. But I like the "Deep Om" sound. There are many sounds to choose from. The ocean, birds, rain, moonlight etc. so pick a sound that speaks to you if you're so inclined.

The last thing, pick the ending bell. Or not... It's up to you! I like the gong sound. That signals to me that meditation is up. But if the gong sounds and I'm still in this cool space and I don't want to stop meditating... the app. will keep going with your music etc. and keep track on the extra time you spend on meditation. Again... LOVE IT!
